Ever since the Tata Nano hit the market, it has been quite popular for its creative advertisements and digital campaigns. This year their campaign was the #TheChosenOnes. This campaign was customer centric where 20 lucky winners who had booked the all new #GenXNano had a one of kind lifetime opportunity to head to the state of the art Tata Nano plant in Sanand with their family to see their Nano roll out on the 7th of July 2015. This entire trip was sponsored by Tata Motors. Usually, it’s only the high end luxury car makers that allow their customers to visit the plant and see their car roll out. For the very first time in India, Tata Motors have allowed the customers to do so. No other manufacturer has yet dared to do something like this for their customers providing an experience worth cherishing for the longest time to come.
#TheChosenOnes Twitter Contest
There was also a Twitter contest where 2 of them were selected along with the 20 #GenXNano owners. I had participated in their Twitter Contest and while taking part, I certainly knew that this was something rare and I definitely wouldn’t want to let go the opportunity to visit their plant in Sanand. I have read about it and also have seen the Nat Geo documentary of the same. Somehow I was lucky enough to have been selected to be a part of this amazing #TheChosenOnes campaign.
Once I got selected, I got a call from the Tata Motors digital team asking for my confirmation on the participation of the event. I confirmed my details and within a day I got the rules and restrictions that had to be followed at Sanand. My flight tickets were mailed in a day and it was just 2 days left for the mega event.
Coffee in Coimbatore, Breakfast in Chennai, lunch in Mumbai and dinner in Ahmedabad
Sounds fancy right? Well that’s how I was booked. I had an interesting flight booking because to reach Ahmedabad I had to change three flights because there wasn’t any direct flights from Coimbatore. So I started around 7 am from Coimbatore with a cup of coffee went to Chennai for breakfast then to Mumbai for lunch before reaching Ahmedabad around 4 p.m where of course I did have dinner later in the night. It was fun to get off the plane run to the terminal and immediately rush to the departure gate and imagine doing it thrice. It was so perfectly booked that the transit between the flights was just an hour.
Hello Ahmedabad
It was my first time in Ahmedabad and until then had only heard a lot about it from so many people and was excited to actually see if it is actually worth all the hype.
I was told that one Mr.Ashok Kumar would be picking me up at the airport and dropping me at the Novotel Hotel. So as I walked out he was there waiting for me holding this board. I walked up to him and introduced myself and then we left to the hotel.
As we were driving, I told him to tell me about the important areas, famous places and the must do things in Ahmedabad and he was kind enough to actually explain everything that we had passed through. I wanted to see the famous Sabramati Ashram, the residence of Mahatma Gandhiji. He told me that Sabarmati Ashram was on the way and so we headed straight to the ashram from the airport. More on the ashram visit in the blogs to follow.
911 at Novotel
After spending some time in the ashram, I headed straight to the Novotel hotel where all of us were booked in. It was a luxury 5 star hotel, a fancy one, I must admit. The room which was allotted to me read 911, seeing that the receptionist and I had a chuckle. I was told I was sharing it with the other contest winner Siddarth Sharma who had already checked in.
I went to the room met Siddarth and introduced myself. He gave me a letter that Tata Motors had given to #TheChosenOnes, it was a welcome letter letting us know about the terms and conditions that had to be followed and along with it was an invite for a fun event that Tata Motors had organized for all #TheChosenOnes at 7 pm with dinner. There was also a cap and a Tata Motors guest tag given to us.
It was already 6 by now and so both of got ready and by the time we were out it was 7 and we headed straight to the Crystal ball room where we are asked to report. There were huge flexes and welcome board placed in the lobby which was quite interesting. I got to know Wizcraft was the event management partners and I knew something exciting was on the cards. As I entered the hall, I saw Hoezaay holding a mike and now this just added to the excitement and I knew it would be a fun evening.
The Start to an awesome evening
As we started to sit down, I introduced myself to Mr. Ashish Sahni and Ms.Priyanka, the digital marketing team of Tata Motors. As soon as all #TheChosenOnes assembled, there was Hozaay on the stage.
Hozaay welcomed all #TheChosenOnes in his usual witty manner. The head of marketing of Tata Motors – Delna Avari addressed the gathering and spoke about how the Nano is a part of every family as a family member more than just a car. The plant head of Sanand, Mr.Hemanth Kulkarani got on the stage to address #TheChosenOnes and all he said was,”Looking forward to host you tomorrow” and left the stage.
The Caricature Mugs
At the centre of the hall, there were mugs placed with caricatures of #TheChosenOnes, so Hoezaay asked the family members of #TheChosenOnes to pick any random mug and find the person in the hall whose caricature was on the mug and hand it over to them. Once the mug is handed over, both must get to know each other with as much information as one could get. Few of them managed to get it right while the rest found it a little hard. I love caricatures and for a long time wanted to get one of mine done and when I got my mug with my caricature, I was so excited. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
The Jigsaw Puzzle
Then there were fortune cookies placed on every table and so Hoezaay asked us to pick one of it and there would a number inside it. The number what we had picked would be the team to which we belonged to. There were 10 teams in total and I picked up 8 and so was part of team 8. There were fun puzzles that were given and every puzzle had a question relating to the #GenXNano. We had to find the answer to it and click a selfie with the it which were basically boards that were placed in the sides. It was crazy with a lot of running around and clicking selfies. Everyone enjoyed it.
Performance by Varun Venkat from Taalinc
This is what we meant when we said that #TheChosenOnes were going to have epic fun tonight. @taalinc pic.twitter.com/PTdbcdTAjq

Once that was over, Varun Venkat from Taalinc played the percussion and entertained the crowd with his rhythm and beats. Later, He also made all of us do a rumble. It was great fun because I hadn’t done something like that before. I tried it for the first time and one embarrassing thing that happened was when Hoezaay and me tried dancing to the Bhangra beats of Varun.
The awesome cupcakes
So once this was over, dinner was ready and all of started to dine. I had a long conversation with Mr.Hemant Kulkarani who explained about the plant and its history in brief. Later, what caught my eye was the dessert area. There were some awesome cup cakes that had a cute wrap of the #GenXNano. I love red velvet, how can I not taste it? I had 3 of them.
As we were moving out of the hall, the itinerary for the next day was handed over to us and we were asked to report by 8.45 as there would be buses that would take us to the Sanand plant.
After a long day of travel, fun and meeting new people, I went to sleep, looking forward to the mega event, the next day.
